Leadership

Pastor Dan Buteau obtained his license as an Assembly of God minister in 2024, receiving his training through the Berean School of the Bible--Global University. In addition, Dan has a Bachelor’s Degree from Granite State College and a Master’s of Theology Degree from Liberty University. Dan served in the United States Marine Corps for four years and retired from a 25-year career in law enforcement. He and his wife Beth have been married for the last 33 years, are the parents of four adult children, and the grandparents to five children.

Prior to arriving at Lighthouse, he and his wife served their previous church in many capacities, to include leading worship faithfully for the last 20 years. They have a hunger and thirst for the Word of God, they love to pray, praise, worship, and they are excited to continue to carry out the Great Commission, as disciples making disciples, in the City of Westbrook, ME, and beyond, leading others to the Way, the Truth, and the Life—Jesus Christ.

They know this mission cannot be accomplished unless they abide in Christ and receive the empowerment of the Holy Spirit for as the Scriptures say; “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty” (Zechariah 4:6).

What We Exist to Do

Empower

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 1:8 (ESV)

In the New Testament, we find out that this same Holy Spirit was not just to rest, or fall upon, Jesus and select people from the times of the OT, but is available to all who would call upon the Name of the LORD.

After His resurrection, Jesus told the disciples to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit and that they “shall receive power” (Acts 1:8). And, just like Jesus promised, we see the record of this in Acts 2:1-4.

Encourage

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV)

The “day” is certainly drawing near! While this is best done in person, our goal is to do the best we can to encourage you to continue to “fight the good fight of faith” (1 Timothy 6:12).

Equip & Challenge

We are not called to the sidelines or the status quo. Paul likens our walk to a race that requires discipline: "I discipline my body and make it my slave" (1 Corinthians 9:27). Growth only happens when we allow the Word of God to create friction between our flesh and the Spirit, burning away complacency.

Do not settle for just existing. Realize there is a fight to be fought and a race to be run. While this challenge is never comfortable, we don't run in our own strength; we start on our knees in Spirit-filled prayer, trusting the Holy Spirit to empower us to will and to act.

Our History

The story of Lighthouse Christian Center is a testament to what can happen when a small group of believers moves in radical faith. What began in 1980 with Reverend Barbara Libby and her husband, Percy, in a humble schoolhouse quickly transformed into a community-led movement fueled by sacrifice and grit.

From the "Miracle on Spring Street" a building raised not by corporate contractors, but by the hands of volunteers, children’s pledges, and even passing strangers—to decades of thriving ministry, our history is a collection of God’s provisions.
